I purchased a Shrek cowl and prosthetic faces from www.midsoutheffects.com The quality is amazing and the appearance will knock the socks off the audience. They helped me understand how to put these on and the result was fabulous. This company will provide you a professional quality prosthetic at a reasonable price."Shrek

www.fxwarehouseinc.com is wonderful. The prosthetic pieces were great and they have an instruction video that was really helpful. You need to order early because of the demand but once I got my order in it arrived when they said it would.

The work is great if you ever get it. Contacted them in late August or early September for a show in mid November. Had they simply said we can't get it done, I would have made other arrangements but as late as week out they were still saying no problem. Then they stopped responding to email, answering the phone and the closest thing to a response I could get was them blocking me and removing negative feedback on their FB page. If you choose to go this route, have a backup plan. Oh, and I am only one of several to have this experience.

Good to know, thanks. I have pretty much given up. I only actually reached them once and was told an invoice would be mailed to me the next day so I could order and pay. That was many weeks ago, and many emails and phone calls ago. I won't bother them anymore, it seems like they are over thier heads. Too bad, it looks like they do really good work. Do you have any ideas for anywhere else to get the head/ears prosthetics? I'm getting desperate. What did you guys decide to do, Sean?

I ended up with only a few days to adjust (I had ordered dragon and donkey as well). I ended up borrowing from a local professional theatre (the opposite of my initial vision but you have to do what you have to do when you have two days). Take a look at the coterie theatre (kc) or the chicago Shakespeare company production for the basic idea. Had they not told me on Nov. 1 that they could do it, a local makeup guy at US Toy was going to do a rush job and get me done in a week. You might just ask local or area supply houses to see if they can recommend or check with nearby college departments.

Thanks Sean. That was actually my original idea, to go with a beanie hat type of thing and I even made a prototype for it. But, I really like the look of a cowl too. Decisions, decisions! I did find a company that will rent me their headpiece though, so I think I'm set. I just need to decide which way to go now. You've all been very helpful!

Have you had any luck with North Fur getting back to you? I've called and emailed many times and am not getting a response.

I ordered my prosthetics in July and just received them. Not that it would take that long. They produce the prosthetics not on a first come, first served basis but rather in the order the shows occur. Since I didn't need mine until December, they didn't come until now. Your original post said you had a fall show. If you have postponed until spring, place your order online and then keep emailing to check in. It's just two guys doing all the casting. The prosthetics are gorgeous. If your show is coming up in the next eight weeks, you should forget it and pursue other solutions. They are overrun with orders.
