Resourceful Theatre Tips...Video Licenses

Resourceful Theatre Tips...Video Licenses

By Matt Heyward on July 04, 2018

We are thrilled to announce that a selection of shows on our MTI catalogue are now available for Video Licenses!!! What does this mean?! I am glad you asked.  After all the hard work your cast and crew and creative team have put into making the show, you can now preserve and commemorate your production by purchasing Video Licenses when you purchase the rights to your show.  Our Video Licenses allow you to make one non-commercial (home-use only) recording for you to make copies...which you can distribute to all the participants in your show.  You can also keep a copy for archival purposes.

It is important to note that copyright law gives authors the exclusive right to control reproduction of their work. Even a videotape made for classroom use, as a personal memento or as an archival can violate the authors' right to reproduce their work.  When MTI grants a license for a live stage production of a show, that license does not include the right to record, as that is the sole right of the author.

However...now with Video Licenses you can record your production for your own purposes and be secure in the knowledge that it is done with the authors' express permission.

Not all shows in the catalogue have video licensing available as a resource, so for more information and to enquire about rights simply head to the link below...
