Janice Torre - author. Born New Orleans, LA, attended Tulane University, Yale Drama School and University of Texas. She wrote the film score for TOM THUMB and contributed songs to such films as: LUXURY LINER, BIG CITY, IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME, NIGHT SONG, GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS!

She wrote the book and lyrics for the first Dickens musical, THE STINGIEST MAN IN TOWN, (SCROOGE) (music by Fred Spielman) for NBC TV in 1956, which featured opera stars, Robert Weedy and Patrice Munsel; Walter Matthau played Scrooge in the 1978 stage production.

Some of her best known songs are: Who Killed Er? Merry Christmas, Spring Came Back to Vienna, Free, I m Gonna See a Lot of You, Talented Shoes, After All These Years, Magic Boy, I Don t Want To and The Letter.

Torre and Spielman also collaborated to produce the hit song, Paper Roses which was recorded by various artists in the 1960 s including Anita Bryant and was revived in 1973 by Marie Osmond.
