Inspiration

The Thirteen Clocks, with a book by Fred Sadoff and music and lyrics by Mark Bucci and James Thurber, is based on Thurber's fairytale of the same name. Known for his cartoons in The New Yorker, Thurber wrote the tale, combining traditional Jacobean ideas with his own touches of humor.  He created the story while he was completing one of his other novels.
