The Pirates of Penzance

Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operetta tells the story of Frederic, a pirate’s apprentice who falls in love with Mabel as he turns 21 and plans to leave the band of tender-hearted pirates. Unfortunately, he was born on February 29th, Leap Day, and must remain with the pirates until his 21st Birthday, another 63 years away. Major-General Stanley, Ruth the pirate maid of all work, the Pirate King and Samuel, wards of the Major-General and a police constabulary all converge on the beaches of Penzance to bring this tale to a satisfactory conclusion. It includes the oft-parodied I Am The Very Model of a Modern Major General.
