Anthony Stein

Mr. Stein is the book writer for Captain Louie. He is also the librettist for The Prodigal Son, a sacred cantata with music by internationally acclaimed Swiss-American composer/conductor Johannes Somary. The cantata, which received a commissioning grant by the Universal Sacred Music Society, was premiered in New York City and Washington, DC. His American Tales and Legends — an original theatrical concert based on American historical themes and featuring the music of American symphonic composers — was commissioned and performed by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

For television, Mr. Stein received a Southern Regional Emmy Award nomination for Individual Excellence in Writing for his work on a series of children’s scripts developed for Georgia Public Broadcasting and broadcast nationally. He was also script writer and lyricist for The Magical Chameleon, a Spanish-language pilot featuring both live actors and puppets.

Mr. Stein was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts commissioning grant for the development of a musical based on the novel Silas Marner. He is the book-writer for that project, with score by Tony-Award-nominated lyricist, Michael Korie and Tony-winning orchestrator Bruce Coughlin.

Other credits include Professor Prattle’s Tales of Wonder, an original play commissioned and produced by The Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta.

When not writing for theatre or television, Mr. Stein is a consultant to the global financial industry, specializing in developing regulatory policies and related business communications.

He is married to producer/director Meridee Stein.
